Crowdfund Recon: Privacy Policy
Crowdfund Recon is published by Seven-Deuce Offsuit, LLC, a Virginia limited liability company ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected]. Mailing address: 600 Reusens Rd, M137, Lynchburg, VA 24503.
Effective date: October 29, 2026. Last updated: October 29, 2026. This policy explains what personal information we collect, who handles it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect little: your email address, payment status, and basic site usage.
- We never sell your data, and we never share it for advertising.
- Our service providers (Substack, Stripe, analytics) handle it only to run the service.
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Your email address, when you subscribe to the free briefing or a paid plan.
- Your name, if you give it at checkout or when you write to us.
- Messages you send us, including corrections, replies and complaints.
Payment information
- Payments are taken by Stripe through Substack. We do not see or store your full card number. We receive limited details such as the plan, the amount, the dates, and whether the payment succeeded, was refunded or was cancelled.
Information collected automatically
- Email activity, such as whether an email was opened and which links were clicked.
- Site usage: pages viewed, referring page, browser and device type, approximate location from your IP address, and the time of the visit.
- Basic technical logs kept by our hosts for security and fault finding.
We do not collect your income, net worth, investments, risk tolerance or any financial profile. We do not ask for it, and our alerts and filters never use it.
2. How we use it
- To deliver the newsletter and the paid database.
- To bill you, renew, cancel and refund subscriptions, and to send the required renewal reminder 30 days before each annual renewal.
- To answer your messages and run our Corrections Policy.
- To see which pages and issues are read, so we can improve them.
- To keep the service secure and to meet legal duties.
- To send required service emails, such as receipts and changes to our terms.
3. Who processes your data
| Provider | What it does for us | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Substack | Hosts the newsletter, subscriber list and sign-up | Email address, name, subscription status, email activity |
| Stripe | Processes card payments for Substack subscriptions | Payment details, billing information |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the website and delivers pages | IP address and request logs |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Counts visits and page views on our website | Pages viewed, referring page, browser and device type, country. It sets no cookies. |
These providers have their own privacy policies, which also apply. We use them to run the service and for nothing else.
4. We never sell your data
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, trade it, or share it with companies raising money, funding portals, broker-dealers or other intermediaries. This fits our rule that we accept no money from them. We disclose information only to the providers above, when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, and to a successor if the business is sold, with notice to you.
5. Cookies and analytics
Our website counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not set cookies or store anything on your device. Substack, which runs the newsletter and subscriptions, sets its own cookies for login and email tracking; see Substack's privacy policy. You can block cookies in your browser; some Substack features may then not work. We do not use advertising cookies or sell audience data.
Do Not Track. Our website does not track you across other sites, and it does not change how it works in response to a browser's Do Not Track signal. How Substack handles that signal is set out in its own policy.
6. Email
Our emails follow the CAN-SPAM Act. Each email has a working unsubscribe link, an honest "From" name and subject line, and our mailing address, which is 600 Reusens Rd, M137, Lynchburg, VA 24503. Promotional messages for the paid tier are clearly identified. We honor an opt-out within 10 business days, without a fee or a login. Service emails about your paid account, such as receipts and renewal notices, may still be sent while you remain a subscriber.
7. How long we keep it
We keep billing and payment records (what was charged, when, and any refunds) for 7 years, for tax purposes. We keep the record that you saw and agreed to the automatic-renewal terms for 3 years after you cancel, as evidence if a charge is ever disputed. We delete other data, such as your email address and profile, within 30 days of a request, or within 2 years after a cancelled account goes inactive. We keep our complaint log under the Corrections Policy for the period stated there. These periods cover the records we keep ourselves; Substack and Stripe keep their own records under their own policies.
8. Your choices and how to request deletion
- Unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email.
- Delete your data. Email [email protected] from the address on your subscription and say you want your data deleted. Within 30 days we delete the data we hold, forward the request to our providers, and confirm by email. Our providers keep some records of their own; Substack and Stripe, for example, keep payment history for tax and fraud reasons. We may also have to keep some records ourselves, such as payment and tax records and the complaint log; we tell you what we kept and why.
- Access or correct the personal information we hold about you by writing to the same contact.
- Deleting your data does not cancel a paid plan by itself. Cancel first, or tell us to cancel it, so you are not billed again.
9. Security
We use reputable providers and sensible safeguards, such as encrypted connections and restricted access. No system is fully secure, and we cannot promise absolute security. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Children
The service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child gave us data, tell us and we will delete it.
11. Where data is stored
Our providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries.
12. Your rights under state law
Some states give residents rights such as access, correction and deletion. We apply the deletion and access choices above to everyone, whatever their state.
13. Changes
We post any change here with a new date. For material changes we email subscribers.
